Openfein, the multi-player gaming social hub is closing.

Gree, a Japan based company,  bought Openfeint,  the iOS and Android gaming platform in April 2011.  and is now trying to convince developers to bring their titles across to its main social gaming service. Gree hopes to transfer willing game developers across to their primary social networking hub in less than a week.

The Openfeint service will close in mid-December 2012, with “all OpenFeint network calls” being summarily terminated.

iOS gaming leaderboards which are currently run by Openfeint will be relinquished to Apple.

This will be a blow to some developers, as the Openfeint leaderboards provide a service for game developers who have players using different game playing mobile devices, not just iOS.
